Information Regarding Importing to Canada
To import a car to Canada it must be 15 years old when it arrives. It can be right hand drive or left hand drive. By law, the car must have been manufactured 15 years (to the month) or more before the car arrives in Canada. However, in practise there is no proof of date of manufacture. So what happens?
The documentation we send to you will include the deregistration/export certificate which has the date of first registration. This is naturally after the car was made.
The result is that you will need to import a car that is 15 years old (or older) to the date of first registration in Japan.
Note that we are fully conversant with sending cars to Canada. Don't worry if the information on the government website looks daunting, as the process is actually quite easy. You can read about importing on the government website here.
